Becoming an AI-native techco is an important element of IOH's growth strategy. As part of its AI-native pivot the Indonesian company is building sovereign AI solutions for enterprises, supporting the country’s efforts to democratize the use of AI tools by Indonesians for Indonesians, and using AI to enhance its network and business operations.

Desmond Cheung, CTO, IOH, plays a central role in delivering on the company's AI strategy. He caught up with Guy Lupo, AI and Data Innovation, TM Forum, to discuss the challenges and opportunities it entails.

A central concern for IOH and other telcos is ensuring all stakeholders can trust AI system. Cheung and Lupo explored how and why traditional governance, security, and monitoring models need to evolve, particularly within complex, multi‑agent AI environments where autonomous agents can generate code, create other agents, and change behavior in real time.

Linked to trust is data sovereignty and security. IOH's enterprise and government customers require strong assurances that data remains under local jurisdiction. Yet as the speakers discussed, ensuring sovereignty across increasingly global and software‑driven AI supply chains is a complex undertaking.
