BSS for B2B: operators diverge on the path to cloud

Communications service providers (CSPs) need to address legacy business support systems (BSS) in order to better meet the B2B needs of customers. But as they transition to cloud services they are adopting different strategies, with some taking a radical approach and others being more cautious. We carried out a survey asking participants a range of questions regarding future BSS spending, public and private cloud hosting preferences, and the impact of new 5G specifications.

Read this report to learn:

  • What’s driving BSS transformation and how CSPs’ views on radical transformation differ
  • What a modern, ODA-based BSS architecture comprises
  • Which market forces and trends are having the greatest impact on CSPs’ BSS plans
  • Whether CSPs intend to increase or decrease spending on BSS capabilities and which capabilities are most important
  • Why some operators are turning to low-code / no-code BSS, while others rely on BSS customization
  • Why some CSPs choose public-cloud BSS and others prefer private clouds
  • How the 5G SA standard affects CSPs’ BSS choices
  • How Vodafone Germany and M1 in Singapore are using ODA to implement cloud-native BSS.
